| This painting was started before I headed off to Jerusalem. I was most curious about the feel and layout of the land, as well as the quality of light. As I visited a garden tomb that some claim is the original tomb, I was struck by the lightness of the rock and the overabundance of rock everywhere. By the time I arrived back home, I realized that I had to approach this painting with the sense and feeling that I had experienced when I awoke early before dawn in Jerusalem. |
